From automated pipelines and cloud-based processing to artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, CamCEAD bridges the gap between cutting-edge instruments and groundbreaking science. We are a leading partner in major facilities including WEAVE, 4MOST, MOONS and WST on the ground, and space missions including Gaia and PLATO.
CamCEAD represents more than four decades of Cambridge leadership in survey science, tracing its roots through the Automatic Plate Measuring (APM) facility and the Cambridge Astronomical Survey Unit (CASU), which built the data infrastructure behind UKIDSS, VISTA, Gaia-ESO, 2dF and many others.
Our expertise in AI, image analysis and large-scale data management also extends into interdisciplinary research — including biomedical imaging programmes such as IMAXT and SPACE, applying astronomical data techniques to advance cancer research.
