CAMCEADHUB relaunches with a redesigned interface and a more resilient platform

CAMCEADHUB, CamCEAD's cloud analysis platform for CASU, has been relaunched with a new interface and a more reliable system behind it. There are also two smaller additions: a new way to sign in, and built-in file sharing.

A new interface and a more reliable platform

Most of the work has gone into the platform itself. The web interface has been redesigned to be clearer and easier to find your way around, and a lot of work has gone into the backend so that CAMCEADHUB has fewer interruptions and stays reliable as more people use it.

Raven sign-in as well as your usual login

CamCEAD members can now also sign in with their University of Cambridge Raven account. This is in addition to the username and password login, which has not changed, so your current account and password work exactly as before. To use Raven instead, click CRSid (CamCEAD members only) on the sign-in page and log in as usual. There is no extra two-factor step, because Raven already takes care of that. You can link your CRSid in a few seconds from your Profile page.

Built-in S3 storage and file sharing

Every account has its own private S3-compatible storage bucket. It is persistent and stays the same whichever server you use, and you can reach it from the dashboard, from your own computer with any standard S3 client, or from inside a running Jupyter session without any setup.

Sharing is now built in as well. You can create a temporary public link for a colleague or journal referee who doesn't have a CAMCEADHUB account, or give a particular user or one of your project groups direct access to a file or folder. There is no need for email attachments or USB sticks.

The same computing underneath

All of this runs on the CAMCEADHUB you already know: JupyterLab, RStudio and VS Code environments with the scientific Python and astronomy software already installed, and servers from Default up to XLarge with GPUs, all hosted on IRIS, STFC's national e-infrastructure.
