CamCEAD Cambridge leads UK involvement in GaiaNIR, ESA's Voyage 2050 candidate mission and near-infrared successor to Gaia.
The CamCEAD, Cambridge team is leading the UK involvement in the ESA Voyage Large mission candidate, GaiaNIR. This mission to launch in the 2040's will be the follow on mission to Gaia, equipped with new near-IR detectors, allowing stars towards the centre of our Galaxy to be observed (exactly those stars that Gaia cannot see due to dust extinction).
Currently CamCEAD are leading a ESA funded detector study, evaluating low readout noise devices for use in GaiaNIR.
