WST (Wide-field Spectroscopic Telescope) is a proposed next-generation facility that will take multiplexed spectroscopy to an entirely new scale; CamCEAD contributes to its data systems design.
WST (Wide-field Spectroscopic Telescope) is a proposed new 12-metre-class telescope dedicated to wide-field multi-object spectroscopy, currently in its design and community-consultation phase. It would combine a very large aperture with an extremely high multiplex (simultaneous spectra of tens of thousands of objects) to carry out transformative surveys of galaxies, stars and transient phenomena.
CamCEAD contributes to the data systems design for WST, drawing on its experience delivering end-to-end pipeline and archive systems for WEAVE, 4MOST and other major spectroscopic survey facilities. WST represents the next major step beyond the current generation of survey spectrographs.
